Vaganova is the Russian way of teaching ballet. The Vaganova method is a ballet technique and training system devised by the Russian dancer and pedagogue Agrippina Vaganova. It was derived from the teachings of the Premier Maitre de Ballet Marius Petipa, throughout the late 19th century. Vaganova-trained dancers execute ballet movements with an effortlessness by using supple arms to contrast the robust movement of the legs.

The Cecchetti method is variously defined as a style of classical ballet and as a ballet training method devised by the Italian ballet master Enrico Cecchetti (1850–1928). The training method seeks to develop essential skills in dancers as well as strength and elasticity. Cecchetti-trained dancers are commonly found in ballet and other dance companies throughout the world. There are six grades - one, two, three, four, five and six. These may be preceded by Pre Primary and Primary. In all six grades they will be marked as follows: Standard not yet attained or pass or credit or commended or highly commended or honours. The Cecchetti technique has a strict training regimen; there is a specific barre for each day of the week and each side of the body is worked altering from week to week.
